Services offered at TCU Resource Centre

TCU Resource Centre is open to public i.e every Higher Education stakeholders is free to access available information. But there is information which are not for public i.e only members can access them. Conditions for one to be a member (please click here- put a link for registration form). Member accepted will be required to pay an annual fees as stipulated in the Resource Centre Policy and he/she will be given username and password to allow access for the said information.

The Resource Centre offers an ensemble of service which include but not limited to the following:

OPAC

Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC); The catalogue permits users to search for information either by Author, Subject, Title, or key word. The result of the search will indicate whether the information is found in hard copy or soft copy, its location and /or download procedures.

Circulation services

Borrowing or lending of library books and other information materials is done through OPAC upon user request. However, this service is restricted to members only. Non members will be obliged to read and leave the copy on the table.

Reservation services

Our reservation services allow you to reserve a book when available copies are on loan. When a copy becomes available an e-mail is sent to notify library users
NB- Please note if a copy or copies of the title you want are available on the shelves you will not be able to reserve that title. Reservation serves is just for item that are on-loan.

Reference services

We provide assistance in the use of resources at the centre. We help you find the information you need in our collection or in other libraries. We also provide instruction to equip you with skills to search for and locate information in our collection and online.

Online Information resources services

Provides our users with databases access to information on higher education management and governance and related field. The databases contain e-books and e-journal of which majority are open access.

Current awareness services (CAS) and Selective Dissemination of Information (SDI)

We keep users informed and up to date about the arrival of new information in their field of basic interest as well as in related subjects. Through CAS users of information can be informed promptly as soon as possible when information materials are available.

Daily Newspaper services

TCU-IRC does receive daily newspapers and a user is allowed to visits the centre and read newspaper for free. It also has newspaper clipping or press clipping on variety of topics related to TCU and Higher Education issues in Tanzania eg governance leadership, students’ issues, loan, programmes to mention the few
